Pamela and Dylan Dowdy are what you might call a match made in craft heaven, and they’ve made a business and a life out of crafting quirky, beautiful and totally original prints, t-shirts, jewelry and more. “We were both born with artistic symptoms, so no clue when we were actually diagnosed with the full-blown artsies.” All they do know is, they are inspired by human experiences – both in nature and humor – while also adoring folk art and vintage children’s books.“As Dowdy Studio, we’ve been collaborating together for six years drawing, painting, silk-screening, sewing and woodworking to make fun objects we love and love to share with others.”

They met at a party in Denton in their early 20s and eventually set up their studio in Dallas. Now they travel “around Dallas and beyond” in their mobile shop, the Dowdy Studio Wagon (DFW’s first mobile storefront), selling their wares and loving every minute of it. This will be their second Art Con event to contribute to; last year’s MOUNTED being their first (although they admit to having been “overly excited stalkery fan teenagers” for a few years now).

They’ve also eagerly embraced this year’s theme and love the idea that WRECKED can be interpreted in so many different ways. “It has many working layers and meanings. We narrowed our vision on an idea that not only can you physically transform something that is wrecked, unwanted, broken or discarded into a desirable form, but you can also change the way you think of the object’s meaning by transforming it into something new.” – Martha Belden
