Pasha Mad is in it for love. Maybe not the in-your-face, sweep-you-off-your-feet kind, but the beauty and optimism of the enchanted emotion encouraged Pasha to become an artist.

“It was when I met my, then, future wife. Love gave me a big push in inspiration, life views and understanding. Maybe it sounds too romantic, but I truly believe that love can bring out the very best in people.”

The Denton-based sculptor was discovered two years ago. He is best known for building optical illusions using a combination of mirrors, light, chrome and wood. Inspired by everything around him, with a knack for the heavier intricacies of science and history, Pasha says he creates a theme for his sculptures and works in series instead of single pieces. He immersed himself in the worlds of blacksmithing, carpentry and design engineering and is self-taught on any necessary components of the trades.

He’s made art his entire life and recalls his first sculpture from elementary school. “I remember when I was a kid, maybe five or seven years old. I made some kind of fairytale bird from clay and was selected for a show at a local daycare.”

This is the first time Pasha is partnering with Art Con and says while he wasn’t familiar with the local non-profit organization prior to this event, he was impressed by Art Con’s passion and achievements.

“Art Con has accomplished a lot in the past 14 years. Helping local nonprofits is a very noble thing. One of the reasons I started an art career was to be able to invest in the community with profits from my art sales. With Art Con and help from people who have experience in the field and a passion for the cause, I can make this happen.”

Discover Pasha’s angular style and his latest creation at Art Con R/EVOLUTION this Saturday, June 2. The event begins at 7:00 P.M. at Life in Deep Ellum.
